Hexatronic Sustainability Award winner cuts CO2 emissions for internal transportation

Apr 22, 2025

We are happy to announce that Hexatronic in Sweden has been awarded the Hexatronic Sustainability Award 2024 for advancing climate neutrality within its operations.

The Hexatronic Sustainability Award is a yearly prize for one of the 38 companies within Hexatronic Group to highlight exceptional activities and projects with a measurable and lasting impact on environmental or social sustainability.

Introduction of bio-based diesel (HVO100)

Thanks to Jon-Erik Sörling's dedication and endurance, Hexatronic in Sweden introduced bio-based diesel (HVO100) for all internal transports at the  Hudiksvall factory. This initiative, which went live in April 2024, has notably reduced the facility's carbon footprint.

By switching to HVO100 in our factory in Hudiksvall, we reduce CO2 emissions from our internal transportation by up to 90%.* This means about 100 tons less carbon dioxide every year—the same emission reduction as driving 8 laps around the world with a petrol car! This is an important step in our journey towards more sustainable production. The Hudiksvall plant already operates on 100% renewable energy and uses bio-based heating. This initiative is an additional step showcasing Hexatronic's commitment to sustainability and innovation.

This project in Hudiksvall has led to a local reduction of CO2 emissions from internal transportation by up to 90%, an impressive achievement and a great source of inspiration!

Pernilla Eriksson, Head of Sustainability at Hexatronic, expressed her pride in the achievement: "The Sustainability Award 2024 is awarded to an impactful initiative that advances our path to climate neutrality within our operations. The switch from fossil fuels to bio-based diesel (HVO100) for the working machines at our Hudiksvall factory has reduced CO2 emissions from local internal transportation by up to 90%, making this achievement a great source of inspiration!"

The initiative from Hexatronic in Sweden shows that Net Zero in Scope 1 and 2 emissions is not only possible but within reach. This accomplishment underscores the company's dedication to creating a sustainable future and serves as a shining example for others in the industry.
