Cables for Direct Buried Installation
The range of cables for direct buried installation includes all of our four basic designs: concentric core, slotted core ribbon, DryTech and ribbon in loose tubes. The cables are reinforced with corrugated steel tape, steel wire, or foamed thermoplastic elastomer, providing excellent mechanical protection. The range of cables includes both metallic and dielectric cables and covers fiber counts up to several hundred fibers.
DryTech – Cables marked with DryTech are a series of cables where the typical water blocking in-between tubes (jelly or water swelling tape or powder) is replaced with a solid thermoplastic foamed elastomer. This truly unique technology has several benefits over traditional jelly filled cables:
- Increased crush resistance, typically up to 65% better
- Faster and lower cost to install, about 2x faster to prepare cable for splicing
- Environmental friendly, minimum amount of solvents needed for cable preparation and hassle-free cable re-cycling
