Swedish match racing team WINGS with team leader Anna Östling wins 1st prize in the Women's World Match Racing Tour in Denmark this weekend. Hexatronic is excited to partner with this dedicated team and to support their journey to the 2022 World Championship in New Zealand.
"WINGS and Hexatronic have lots in common. We are both driven by the ambition to be at the forefront of our respective fields. The belief in the power of teamwork and a passion for technology unites us. We are proud to team up with this amazing crew of hard-working, strategic, and strong women. The way they dream big and break barriers truly inspires us," says Hexatronic Group CEO Henrik Larsson Lyon.
"We are so excited to partner up with Hexatronic," shares Anna Östling, skipper of WINGS. "Aiming to be at the top is certainly something we have in common. Finding the best solutions as a team has taken us a long way. And we are both fans of high speed, whether in sailing or internet connection. But most importantly, we appreciate a partner sharing our views and trying to unlock a brighter future for coming generations."
This weekend, 12 crews competed off the coast of the new tour destination Skovshoved in Denmark, where the Royal Danish Yacht Club hosted the event. Teams from England, France, Denmark, Sweden, and Australia joined the race. The teams sail on a new set of boats for each Women's World Match Racing Tour competition, and the Danish race presented DS37s, relatively large and heavy ships. This choice of boat suited the WINGS team perfectly.
"We feel at home on the DS37, a boat where we spent many hours, even if it was long ago. We got it all right on the final day, and we are so happy to be back at the top of the podium again," says Anna Östling right after the race. WINGS beat the world's top-ranked Match in Pink by Normandy Elite Team with skipper Pauline Courtois in the final.
In November, Auckland, New Zealand, will host the tour final, and the race is also the 2022 World Championship. WINGS will go for the gold. With the win in Denmark, the team is again at the top of its game. We congratulate WINGS on the victory and wish them good luck with the preparations ahead.
